Our Sheep.
The Carpinteria Children’s Farm currently has 4 Olde English Southdown Babydoll Sheep. We have an all female flock of Babydoll Sheep. Our oldest is Luna. Next is Noche, who just had her baby! Our newest adopted member of the flock is Lucia Tika-Tika, she is a yearling (just turned one!). However, our newest member to our flock is our new baby lamb, birthed by Noche! Her name is Violet. Luna.
Luna is the matriarch, head, of our flock, she is the oldest and keeps everyone in check. She is 4 years old. She is the shiest of all of our baby doll sheep. Luna arrived to the Carpinteria Children’s Farm, along with Noche, on November 28th 2023.
Noche (the mama).
Noche is our friendliest and sweetest of our sheep. Noche just gave birth to Violet on March 4th! Way to go mama! Noche is a second time mother and she is doing a wonderful job. She gave birth unassisted in the corner of our pasture, in the peace and quiet of the shade of our trees. She is doing a great job teaching Violet the ways of the farm. Noche arrived to the Carpinteria Children’s Farm, along with Luna, on November 28th 2023.
Lucia Tika Tika.
Lucia of Tika Tika is our newest adopted member to our flock. She joined the Carpinteria Children’s Farm on February 15. As of right now, she is a yearling (one year old). Fun fact about her, she has wool blindness. Which means that her wool grows onto her face, so we need to make sure to keep her face trimmed up at all times, so that it does not grow too much, and not allow her to see!
Violet (the baby).
Our newest member of the flock, Violet was born on March 4th. It was an amazing experience. She was born during our Farm to Table and Terrain classes, and the children were able to see her and be there to watch her, as soon as she was born. It was truly an unforgettable exerience.
